Zacatecas City Hall - The Palacio de Gobierno

The Palacio de Gobierno is housed in a 17th century building that was the former home of two distinguished members of colonial royal Zacatecas: Field Marshal Don Vincente Zaldivar and Mendoza, and later the Counts of Santiago de la Laguna. This building is one of the few examples of the Baroque civil architecture from the colonial period. Inside is a central courtyard that is surrounded by rooms, of which, the main room called the Reception Hall is he most noteworthy. In its main staircase, there is a mural-relief by artist Antonio Pintor Rodriguez.
