Gringo Gulch

The Gringo Gulch is a picturesque residential area in the historical part of downtown Puerto Vallarta, located on the hillside to the East and uphill from the main square on the north bank of River Cuale. The term 'Gringo' is mainly used in Spanish speaking countries to refer to an English speaking foreigner, especially someone from America.
We climbed the stairs from Isla Cuale to explore Gringo Gulch and to see what was the original homes of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. The narrow cobblestone streets, doors to homes and restaurants, balconies laden with bougainvillea and narrow stairways linking one street to another made it another photographic delight.
